The activity was carried out within the project "Effective implementation of the Law on Protection against Domestic Violence" under a Contract for granting financial help with reg. № 15-00-262 / 2014 signed with the Bulgarian Ministry of Justice.

Beneficiary: Gender alternatives Foundation

The second of its kind work meeting focused on the rights of victims of domestic violence under national, international and European legal standards and mechanisms for prevention and combating violence against women and domestic violence, the National Program for Prevention and Protection against domestic violence, the role the various institutions in the fight against gender-based violence and their rights and obligations.

The main function of the working group is the exchange of experience between participants in protecting the rights of victims of domestic violence and the use of European and international standards in this area. Thus, it aims both to protect the fundamental rights of victims of domestic violence, ensuring effective use of the Law and legislation related to domestic violence and better coordinated work of the relevant institutions.

At the end of the project a program forcooperation with the Plovdiv District Court and District Interior Ministry Directorate-Plovdiv will be published.

The meeting was held on 27.5.2015 in Plovdiv University. The event was attended by judges, prosecutors, police, lawyers, social workers and psychologists from the town Plovdiv.
