Summer Workshops for Women's Economic Empowerment

This summer, in the period of five weeks (12.07-12.08.2016), Gender Alternatives Foundation in partnership with AIESEC Bulgaria organized 10 training sessions for women’s economic empowerment. Overall 10 women from vulnerable groups were involved in the activities. The courses were designed so as to provide the trainees with new perspectives on life related to their professional growth. The ultimate goal was to improve women’s chances for finding decent employment through strengthening their skills and knowledge in the areas of entrepreneurship, business planning, communication, presentation, time management and leadership. Strong emphasis was laid on gender and the role of women in the globalizing economy. The workshops were held twice a week for two hours. The lecturers were young people from China, Honk Kong, India, Brazil, and Tunisia – all of them volunteers under the internship program of AIESEC. After the end of the courses, the workshop content was summarized in a handbook for future reference that would be used in the Gender Alternatives Women’s Resource Center.
